Hi! I'm Monisha Mittal. Welcome to my slice of the Internet.
I build vibrant experiences for individuals and groups to expand their emotional, interpersonal and leadership capacity by tapping your somatic intelligence.
Using improvisational forms of the InterPlay system, I create sequences of Embodied Play that help you to lead with authenticity, vitality and your unique inner verve.
I am currently a Life Practice Leader for the DC region of InterPlay (CL/CLP). I create an even playing field for all I serve and foster authentic listening and dialogue in for true growth and expansion.

My schooling, work experience and other adventures
I built my career on deeply listening to the needs of individuals, groups and organizations to identify growth strategies. Starting in community economic development, I learned from community organizers and change agents in Philadelphia and rural India who built indigenous leadership in lower income communities to organize change from within. At the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, I advocated for innovative housing and small business financing models to combat redlining and spur reinvestment in lower-income neighborhoods. As a management consultant, I fostered collaborative problem-solving to enhance team engagement, communications and business processes for expanded outcomes at agencies like the Departments of State and Health and Human Services. Throughout my career I received awards for initiative and innovation.
Despite working with tremendous leaders, I always felt a disconnect within myself that I couldn't quite name. From a young age, I could feel the emotions and energies in a room -- an intuitive ability that made me a natural bridge builder in the workplace, but also left me feeling out of place because I had no language to explain my process. After years of striving to fit societal expectations, I found myself channeling my inner anxiety into achievement and felt exhausted.
During a sabbatical in 2018, I tried something RADICALLY DIFFERENT. In an InterPlay program, I found I could connect with an inner wholeness through improvisational movement, storytelling and voice forms. Instead of anxiety, I experienced repeated ease. And, increasingly, Joy. Over time, instead of fitting in, I learned to trust my instincts, my unique wiring, and my voice. Not only do I have a stronger center, its more natural to play with people and situations — even the hard stuff! – and to follow my desires. Now, I see myself as an Embodied Play Architect who creates sequences of Play so you live with more vitally and connection, and increased capacity for ease and joy while plugging into your inner wisdom.
I am a proud alum of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University’s Kennedy School. Along the way, I embraced design as a natural part of my wiring through a Design and Public Policy fellowship at the Rhode Island School of Design. I live in Fairfax, VA with my husband and two pets.
Credentials: A trained facilitator through Interaction Associates and coaching accreditation from the Applied Depths Practitioner Institute in 2018. Since 2020, I have accumlated more than 100+ hours as a group leader and one-on-one Somatic Coach.
